ITF Umpire Course in Dublin, February 2026

Courses

Representatives from the British Taekwon‑Do Federation (BTF) recently travelled to Dublin to attend the International Umpire Course conducted by Grand Master Gary Miller IX and hosted by Republic of Ireland Taekwon‑Do.  The course formed part of the ongoing programme to ensure BTF instructors and officials remain fully aligned with current ITF standards at national and international level.  The BTF delegation included Grand Master Wayne Brown IX, Mr David Hilton VI, Ms Denise Clinker VI, Mr Tim Walker V, Ms Violeta Harlow V, Miss Danielle Williams V and Miss Natalie Williams IV.

Across the weekend, participants received detailed updates on the latest ITF tournament rules and regulations, covering both patterns and sparring. Alongside the theory, there was extensive hands‑on practice with the computer scoring and ring management systems now in use at major championships, helping to further develop confidence and competency in live ring scenarios.

By investing in ongoing umpire education, the BTF continues to raise standards of officiating at its events and ensure consistency with international practice. This in turn supports a safer, fairer and more professional environment for competitors and offers our students the reassurance that their development is underpinned by high‑quality officiating.

The British Taekwon‑Do Federation extends its thanks to Grand Master Gary Miller IX for delivering a highly informative and professional course, and to Master Floyd Keane and Republic of Ireland Taekwon‑Do for organising and hosting the event. Our thanks also go to Master Dorine Brown and Mrs Amanda Walker for their support over the weekend, and to all those who helped create a valuable opportunity to train, share knowledge and spend time with our wider Taekwon‑Do family.
